Ivan Kupala in Pirogovo in Kiev, how the holiday is held and whether it is worth going there. Review of the visit 2014

In Kiev, on the outskirts there is a wonderful open-air museum Pirogovo. By the way, the official name of the museum: "National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine". The museum occupies as much as 150 hectares. In general, it is definitely worth going to the museum, it is interesting just to walk around and see the old Ukrainian huts. But we'll come back to Ivan Kupala.

How to get to Pirogovo

Well, by car – you will find the road yourself.

And by public transport – best from the metro station "Lybidskaya" – on trolleybus No. 11. You can go to the trolleybus and from the Teremki metro station – in the direction of the Magelan shopping center.

You need to go to the final stop, then cross the road and walk along the road for about 20 minutes, and that's it, you will come to the entrance to the museum.

Full address of the Pirogovo Museum:

What is the best way to get to Ivan Kupala

And now tips on how to go to Pirogovo for the celebration of Ivan Kupala. If you eat by car – then my advice is to put it closer to the road – Zabolotnogo Street. Since you will go to the museum itself, it will take a very long time! There was a traffic jam that on the entrance that on the exit.

That's what the road to Pirogovo was like – the whole road was clogged with cars, you could only go through the field, and even then there were a lot of cars. Therefore, we put the car on Zabolotnoye, and go on foot!

Well, if you are on a trolleybus – then just go on foot :-).

By the way, if you want to weave a wreath for yourself – then just along the way you can pick flowers from the field.

We buy tickets to Pirogovo, price for the holiday

You reach the entrance to the museum and see another queue :-), but already for tickets. But do not despair, in fact, on the right there are 2 or 4 more ticket offices + tickets are sold right at the gate. That is, you do not have to stand in line for a long time.

The price of the entrance ticket to Pirogovo for Ivan Kupala in 2014 was 30 hryvnia. It's just an entrance.

Ivan Kupala in Pirogovo, what to take with you

Alas, Ivan Kupala in Pirogovo is celebrated not as ethnically as in the villages. That is, I remember the holiday with a bunch of people, large queues, the performance of the group DZIDZIO and jumping over the fire.

By the way, the Pirogovo Museum does not have an official website! Therefore, look for holiday schedules on non-official websites. But there's not much use for the schedule. Except that which group performs you can find out.

Therefore, next year I am unlikely to come here. But if you still want to go, then:

– Take all your food and drink with you! Queues are cosmic, you can stand for 30-40 minutes for beer and barbecue. Prices were: 15 UAH per glass of Obolon, and 30 UAH per 100 grams of kebab, 15 UAH per 100 grams of vegetables.

There were a lot of people! It seems that the organizers did not expect to see such a flow, so some tents were running out of beer and food.

Here are 7 servings of kebab with baked pepper, the total cost is 500 UAH. This is 1500 grams of meat and 200 grams of baked pepper.

From entertainment, a bonfire was burned on Ivan Kupala – through which you could then jump, wreaths were thrown into the water, sky lanterns were launched, horses and carts were rolled. But because of the large number of people, there were queues everywhere.

Most of all we liked the band – it performed for an hour and a half, and the fire – jumping over it is really fun and a little scary :-).

As I wrote above – I am not going to go again to this holiday. Although if you take with you all the food and drink – then you can rest normally and listen to music. By the way, at 22-00 the fire was extinguished and hinted that it was time to go home. But then the enthusiasts re-lit the fire and continued to jump over it.

And finally, a few photos from the holiday:
